- Chaparral High School Choirs to Perform at Lincoln Center, NYCPosted on: 2011-09-12The award winning Chaparral High School choirs, Vocal Ensemble and Women’s Choir, will be traveling to New York City to perform Mozart’s Requiem at Lincoln Center in March, 2012.
Lincoln Center is the world’s leading performing arts center and is home to world renown institutions such as the Metropolitan Opera, the New York Philharmonic, and the Julliard school just to name a few.
The choirs will be performing under the direction of Vance George, who directed the San Francisco Symphony Chorus for 23 years. Under his direction the group received Grammy Awards for Best Choral Performance in 1992 and 1995.
The cost of the trip is about $1600 per student and choir students will be working to raise funds to attend. Residents who would like to support the choirs’ efforts may utilize their extra-curricular tax credit for 2011 and/or 2012. Other ways to support the choir include purchasing an advertisement in the Coffee House program, hire a group of carolers for a holiday party, or make a tax-deductible donation
